The Lady Raiders led Santa Monica College Corsairs 4-0 in the first inning at their home game on Thursday, Feb. 12. The Lady Raiders held strong against the Corsairs and as a result won 8-4.

Melissa Boundy was relentless with her pitching against the Corsairs and held them hitless for four innings. Catcher Megan Zigler hit a three run home run in the bottom of the third inning bringing the score to 7-0.

“The biggest thing for this game was to get runs on the board,” said head coach Dave Fox. “Melissa Boundy was our number one kid.”

Coach Fox said that he liked the runs during the game and when the Lady Corsairs started gaining on the Raiders he was pleased that the girls were able to shut them back down.

“Everyone was up and hitting well was a plus,” said Jessica Perine, a freshman catcher. “As far as improvements, everyone who came late should be able to have a better execution.”

The Lady Raiders are currently 2-4 in the Western State Conference and will travel to L.A. Valley College on Tuesday, Feb. 17 to take on the Monarchs at 2:30 p.m.
