Moorpark’s photo department and the costume and make-up class came together to offer students the opportunity to get made and dressed up like zombies for this Multicultural Day.
Credit goes to Stephen Kaulus, a photography professor, who brought his idea to the Multicultural Day Committee. They responded enthusiastically to the idea.
“Zombie culture is a huge part of today’s culture,” said Kaulus. “Students are interested in post apocalyptic environments.”
Kaulus teamed up with Prof. Halea Risdana, who teaches the make-up and costume design class, in order to transform the students into zombies. The make-up class, according to Risdana, has been practicing make-up twice a week since the beginning of the semester.
“The students are very experienced with the tools they are using,” said Risdana.
Students who attended the event on Tuesday were mainly interested with the idea of being a zombie. Joshua Willis wanted to know what it would feel like to portray a zombie.
“That way when the zombies attack I would know what to expect from them,” said Willis.
Many of the other students said they thought it would be cool to dress as a zombie or to scare some people on campus.
So remember if you saw a zombie on campus, it was probably one of your classmates just having a good time.
