Moorpark College’s Lt. Greg Beckley risked his life to rescue a women from being hit by a train and for that demonstration of bravery the Board of Trustees presented him with an award.

On March 16, Campus Police Supervisor Beckley saved a Simi Valley women from being hit by the Surfliner train when her Honda Fit flipped multiple times, landing on the rail road tracks where Hitch Boulevard fuses into state Route 118.

“Over the course of my career I have saved thousands of people’s lives without them knowing, but sometimes you get caught in the act,” said Beckley to the Trustees.

Board of Trustees Chair Dianne McKay said that she is extremely proud of the actions Beckley showed that day.

Board of Trustee Stephen P. Blum, Esq. said that every day he thanks the VCCCD police officers for protecting everyone.

“I guess this time someone in the community needed you to save them,” said Blum.
