Students in the Ventura County Committee College District will have an optional fee to pay, that will allow Associated Students to obtain money for student activities like clubs or events like club rush.

On April 14, the Board of Trustees approved an optional fee for Moorpark College that will cost $5. This will allow A.S. to raise money.

Iris Ingram said that A.S., as a board, will decide how the money will be used and will be monitored by their adviser to make sure the money is used for its purpose.

Trustee Bernardo Perez said that this process will make sure the funds go where they need to go.

“I would like to see these funds be flexible,” said Perez. “I’m curious to see how these fee will be used.”

Perez said, it was easy for him to approve this because, to his understanding, it was the students who wanted and supported it at the last board meeting.

“Everything we do is for the students,” said Perez.
