The chancellor of the Ventura County Community College District has returned from vacation to resume her duties, but will be leaving the district, said a district official.

Chancellor Jamillah Moore returned on May 7, after being on vacation since April 15. After careful consideration it was decided that at the end of this fiscal year, June 30, she will be looking to move back to Northern California to be with her family, said Board of Trustee Chairmen Dianne McKay.

McKay said Moore wants to move back to her family and take care of her mother who has become ill.

After the fiscal year is over, Moore will stay with the district as a consultant to transition, until December 31, to what will likely be an interim chancellor and then a permanent chancellor, said McKay.

“We are grateful that she is willing to finish out the year and help the district move forward,” said McKay.
