A three-week-long search to find a Student Services Director concluded as William Sloane was sworn in by the Associated Students on Tuesday, filling the vacated position.
The A.S. President Ashley Ramussen interviewed many candidates for this position before she came across Sloane.
“I feel like he is the best fit for the position,” said Ramussen. “He is on top of his game and is very responsive during our email communication.”
This position had been vacant since the start of the semester because the previous candidate resigned her position, said Sharon Miller, the A.S. advisor.
According to Sloane, his position focuses on increasing the sales of student ID cards and the benefits for the cardholders, such as getting discounts at a local restaurants, like Jersey Mike’s and Papa John’s, He will also take appropriate actions when Student Service don’t attract students, or needs more staff to accommodate student needs.
Miller was also the one who performed the ceremony to swear Sloane in his position.
“I think he’s going to bring a great attitude, resourcefulness and enthusiasm to the board,” said Miller.
“It’s really nice that this actually happened,” said Sloane.
Other than his usual roles for the position, Sloane wants to increase the publicity for the athletic program. He plans to do this through social media to bring sports events’ attendance up to 100 or 200 people.
