To commemorate Veterans Day, the Veterans Resource Center will hold an event with a flag ceremony, color guard and refreshments, on Wednesday, Nov. 11 from noon to 3 p.m. in front of the Administration Building.
Staff Sgt. Robert Felix, who works in the VRC, wants to bring attention to the heroes of our country and honor veterans.
“My goal is to bring awareness to faculty and students,” said Felix.
Professor Sabrina Jimenez will give a speech on the history of Veterans Day to create awareness and inform the college about veterans’ contributions to the country.
Later, at 1 p.m., the VRC will have ice cream, cake and finger foods for guests to enjoy.
Marine Corps Toys for Tots will be there to collect gifts. Every person who buys a toy and gives an unwrapped gift will receive a raffle ticket to win a prize later. One of the prizes given out will be a $25 gift card.
Also in attendance, and speaking, will be College President Luis Sanchez, Executive Vice President Lori Bennett, Academic Senate President Mary Rees and Associated Students President Ashley Rasmussen.
