The Lady Raiders brought their A game and blew out conference rival Pierce 69-37, on Wednesday, Feb. 10.

Moorpark never trailed the entire game en route to a 32-point victory. The Lady Raiders used a full court press for the entire game, which helped them have a double digit lead the whole night. The victory also puts the them back at .500 with a 12-12 record headed into the final two games of the season.

Head Coach Kenny Plumer enjoyed a night where everything seemed to go right for his team.

“Our press really picked up the energy on defense,” said Plumer. “They shared the ball, played well on defense and even took out Pierce’s primary scorer.”

The team played a difficult opponent, which gave them a feel for their next competition. The team’s overall rate on their play was an eight to nine out of 10.

“We made the extra passes, finished our layups and stayed together as a team,” said freshman Emma Johnson.

Captain Sydney Perry had 16 points and Dagmar Ramirez had 14 points, both leading the team in scoring.

With a rough start due to communication skills for this team, the end of the season was a time to improve.

“Communication helped us a lot these past few games,” said Perry.

Tiffany Nguyen, a first year player for the team, agrees that the team has really improved a lot.

“Communication really helped us a lot,” said Nguyen. “We were sticking together and pushing each other till the end of the game.”

Our Lady Raiders have made a successful start in maintaining their goal to finish the season with wins.

On Saturday Feb. 13, the Lady Raiders will play away at Santa Barbara College at 5 p.m. They will return back home on Saturday Feb. 20, for the season finale against Cuesta College at 3 p.m.
