The mens volleyball team came out buzzing as they swept Palomar College in their season opener at home on Wednesday night, Feb. 17.
The Raiders kept a high streak lead in all three sets: 25-15, 25-19 and 25-20. The victory also gave Moorpark their first victory of the season giving them a record of 1-3.
With a win in their home opener, Head Coach Aaron Hedland has high hopes as he anticipates a promising season ahead for the Raiders.
“Hopefully good things happen this season,” said Hedland. “We want to take a big positive step from last year in the right direction so we hope to be in the playoff hunt.”
The Raiders felt good about their performance on Wednesday’s game, both as a team and individually.
“I felt great about how we played,” said Myles Myers, freshman. “The team absorbed the energy on and off the court.”
The players are hopeful for the season ahead, but are aware that their defeats won’t be easy to get.
“Hopefully we win conference,” said Andrew Hansen, freshman . “Although there’s a lot of tough teams so we’ll see how it goes.”
The Raiders play their next game at home on Friday, Feb. 19 at 6 p.m as they host Irvine Valley College.
