Job and Career expo to be bigger than ever

Students should dress nice because this month they will have the opportunity to meet over 70 different employers in a variety of fields at the Job and Career Expo.

Students can bring their résumé and talk with employers about full-time or part-time jobs in fields like: computer & technology, finance, summer camps, childcare & tutoring, medical assistants & nursing, police department, social services, realtors, parks and recreation agencies, and food establishments on April 13 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Raider Walk.

“I’m excited because this will be our biggest fair,” said Trisha Farrugia, interim job placement specialist. “Last year, we had 60 [employers] and right now we have 70 and we still have people registering.”

Students who attended last year had positive things to say about the Job and Career Expo and are looking forward to this years as well.

“The employers are awesome,” said Candace Douglas, math major. “I’ve had an interview just from putting my name on the list.”

Students interested in attending are encouraged to attend one or all of the three workshops the Career Transfer Center will be offering this week.

Today, April 4, there will be a resume workshop at 3 p.m., April 5 will be an interviewing workshop at 3 p.m. and Thursday, April 6, will be a preparation workshop for the Job and Career Expo at 3 p.m.

All of these workshops will be in Fountain Hall 218, but interested students should call the Career and Transfer Center at (805) 378-1536 to RSVP.
