Moorpark College’s Associated Students are all set to hold their annual elections to elect the new board of directors.

There are more candidates this year, 23 for 10 positions, from last year, which saw 18, said Sharon Miller, director of student activites. Miller hopes for a larger turnout than previous years.

“Last year was also the year we switched to electronic voting [through the student portal] and voter turnout went from 329 students voting in spring 2014 to 1,990 voting in spring 2015,” Miller said. “With this many candidates we hope for another large voter turnout.”

Voting takes place on April 19 and 20 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., both online and on campus. There will be voting booths being set up in the Campus Center on those two days.
