Last week, the representatives from the Financial Aid department stepped outside the office to generate awareness for the program.

Molly Norman, 28, Dance and ASL major said she learned about the importance of completing the FAFSA, Federal Application for Student Aid, before the deadline.

At a booth decorated with blue and silver tinsel in front of Fountain Hall, two female financial aid office representatives and a male student worker asked students to complete a survey. Students were rewarded with blue-sling backpacks, notebooks, bottles of water, granola bars and muffins from Corner Bakery restaurant.

“We also give them… our famous flash drives everyone needs,” said Maria Urenda, financial aid specialist.

Students were asked to answer a few questions which would gauge their knowledge and eligibility for financial aid. Next, they were given an opportunity to comment on the quality and effectiveness of the financial aid office.
