UPDATE April 30. 3:50 p.m.: Moorpark College softball has been seeded at No. 11 for the upcoming Southern California regional playoffs and will face No. 6 College of the Canyons in a best of three game series starting on May 7 at 2 p.m. at COC.
The Lady Raiders who have brought their A game day in and day out have captured the Western State Conference title with a double header victory on Tuesday, April 26 against Pierce College.
With an overall record of 28-8 to end the season the Lady Raiders became outright champs. Their victory and Ventura’s loss was what broke the tie in the top of the conference standings.
This has truly been an exciting season for this team as freshman Jazmin Macias emphasized on what it meant to close out the season in a positive way.
“It felt really good to end conference on those two wins,” said Macias. “Our hitting stood out today and we worked as a team to get runs on the board.”
The momentum the Lady Raiders have had this season has been a huge aspect of their success and freshman Caitlin Vinyard said it is not going away any time soon.
“This win will for sure carry momentum into playoffs because we are so excited about winning conference,” said Vinyard. “We’ve been working for this all year so we’re going to try to make it as far as we can.”
With an incredible regular season in the books the Lady Raiders are determined to have success in the playoffs.
