Students in the dance department are getting ready to show off what they have learned this semester in a two-night show.
“Evening of Dance” is a dance concert that gives students taking classes such as ballet, hip-hop, tap, modern and other dance classes offered by Moorpark College a chance to display what they have learned throughout the semester. It will be held May 11 and 12 at 7 p.m. in the PAC.
The concert gives students majoring in dance a chance to have their choreography performed on stage in front of an audience, according to Savanna Cory, 20, undecided.
“This event gives everyone an opporuntiy to practice something they may want to make a profession out of,” said Cory.
Cory will also appear in a hip-hop piece for Wendy Baity’s hip-hop class, she said.
Serigo Barrientos, 20, dance major, will be in “Evening of Dance” for the three dance classes he takes at Moorpark. He believes it is a great way to showcase the different styles that are taught at the college.
“Hopefully it will encourage some of the audience members to take some dance classes here,” said Barrientos.
Tickets range between $8 to $10 dollars.
