This year’s annual Transfer Social will be held in conjunction with a mini transfer fair on Thursday May 5 along the Raider Walk and in the quad.
“The goal is to celebrate the success of our students who have been admitted to a university and who are transferring,” said Donny Munshower, Moorpark College counselor and lead organizer of the event. “But it’s also an opportunity for all students to experience the transfer process and that transferring is very possible for any Moorpark College student that wants to do it.”
The Transfer Social provides an opportunity for students to say thank you to staff and faculty, and for the Moorpark College community to say congratulations to transferring students, said Munshower.
The social will include a photo booth, wall of fame and networking sign-up sheet. The photo booth will have props and costume pieces.
The wall of fame will be a place for transferring students to write about where they are going and share memories of their time at Moorpark. The networking sign-up sheet will give transferring students the opportunity to share contact information with each other, according to Munshower.
There will be complimentary hot dogs, churros and soft-serve ice cream available for students at the event. They will also need their student I.D. number to receive two free tickets which can be exchanged for food, according to Munshower.
There will be representatives from 14 colleges and universities at the mini transfer fair including UCLA, CSU Channel Islands and Colorado State University to name a few, according to Munshower.
The mini transfer fair is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will take place on the Raider Walk. The Transfer Social will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will take place in the quad, according to Munshower.
