Over 40 students and friends arrived to a free showing of the latest “Star Wars” installment, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”

The Moorpark College Honors Club hosted the gathering Friday evening as its final event for the semester, in the Exotic Animal Training and Management Department’s auditorium.

Frank Ralph, 19, club president and Student Voice managing editor, ensured that each attendee helped themselves to pizza from Papa Johns, Pepsi and Almond Joy candy bars. Ralph only asked that each attendee sign in at the front door.

The club that throws the most successful event, which is judged based on attendance and promotion, will win $1,500 to be used for club purposes from the Associated Students said Mohsin Salem, 18, business major and incoming public relations officer for the Honors Club.

“That [money] would be really nice for us,” said Salem. “We can use that for a lot of different things that we do… We’re hopeful.”

The winner of the contest is still to be announced.
