Every year, hundreds of scholarships are awarded to students through the Moorpark College Foundation.
This year’s scholarship reception was held in the Performing Arts Center on Monday where 117 students were given the opportunity to go up on stage and receive their awards.
“It went really well,” said Javier Berjon de la Parra, 21, engineering and physics major. “I got four scholarships so I can’t complain.”
While several scholarships were given at this ceremony, there are still several scholarships to be distributed and students to be chosen.
Departments like graphics and multimedia plan to have their own reception once recipients of their scholarships have been awarded based on work they have submitted.
The scholarships distributed at the ceremony ranged from $250 to $2500.
“We had a lot of students that attended,” said Maria Perez-Medeiros, faculty in the scholarship office. “I think it went very well.”
A final tally of every scholarship will be available in late May.
“I want as many students to participate as possible,” said Perez-Medeiros.
Perez-Medeiros plans to release a survey asking for student responses in regards to the award ceremony.
