The Moorpark College Associated Students Board had the first meeting of the year on Wednesday, Aug. 24 and just as every year, the board is working hard to improve the campus and provide a better college experience for students.
The first item on the agenda for President Teresita Rios and the rest of the board was to appoint the new Constitution and Rules Director, Sana Mutalib, who was voted by a majority of two-thirds as the newest member of the board.
“I’m really happy to be [on the board],” Mutalib said. “And I will do my best.”
The board also voted in favor of adopting a new official student organization: a cheerleading squad.
Associated Students adviser Sharon Miller said that everyone on the board expects greatness from this new program.
“I look forward to having [the cheer squad] as a vital part of Moorpark College student life,” Miller said.
The Associated Students will have their next meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 30 at 4 p.m. in the Associated Students conference room located in the Campus Center.
