For one night only, a renowned film and television director, writer, and producer will come to Moorpark College to speak and answer any questions students may have about the industry.

Emmy and ACE award winning Steve Binder, perhaps best known for his immense contributions to Elvis Presley’s “The Comeback Special,” “The T.A.M.I. Show,” and the “Star Wars Holiday Special,” will speak at the Moorpark College Zoo on Sept. 27 at 6:30 p.m. about his storied career in the entertainment business and his future affairs with Moorpark College.

A recent addition to the Foundation Board of Directors here at Moorpark College, Binder has already left his fellow board members, including Executive Director of the Moorpark College Foundation David Mirisch, in a wake of excitement about the new potential Binder brings to the table.

“We’re just thrilled to have him as a member of the board because we know that besides his lecture, he’s going to bring many new facets to our board about the entertainment world,” said Mirisch.

Mirisch encourages students interested in all different career paths to come to Binder’s lecture to hear what he has to offer.

“[All students] are going to enjoy listening to him tell his stories about his years in the entertainment field,” said Mirisch. “Then I hope educationally, that they learn something.”

Immediately following Binder’s speech will be a question and answer session and an opportunity for students to meet Binder face-to-face. These post-lecture activities are what excites Binder himself the most about the night of Sept. 27.

“When it comes to being open and honest, let them ask anything they want to ask,” said Binder. “That’s the fun portion of the show for me.”

According to the Moorpark College Foundation, tickets for the Steve Binder event are now on sale for $20. With less than 150 seats remaining, tickets are expected to go quickly.

To purchase tickets, contact Mirisch at [email protected] or (805) 553-4760.
