The streets of Los Angeles got a taste of new emerging styles with fashion inspiration from both Los Angeles and New York by their favorite artists.

Fashion is a huge statement for anybody with ambition to express themselves one way or another. Fairfax and Melrose had opened up their statement streets for upcoming pop-up shops, showcasing Rihanna, Future, and Zanerobe on Thursday, Sept. 6, that will only be here for a short time from Sept. 6 to 25.

Vanessa Lara, 19-year-old social services major and employee at the Rihanna X Fenty pop-up shop, tried to contain her excitement while being on the job at the same time.

“Being given this opportunity to work at a shop like this for my ultimate favorite artist is definitely a dream come true,” said Lara. “Seeing her designs right in front of my eyes and helping the people buy, wear, and display for the world to see definitely puts a smile on my heart. Plus it’s a bonus getting to touch RiRi’s designs all day everyday.”

Artists view fashion as a way of connecting with the youth as they are the people they can come closest to. As such, every store has its own unique characteristics, displaying the designers’ take on clothing, art, products and footwear. Youth is what gives them the viewpoint to see eye-to-eye in what’s coming up in the new seasons’ designs.

Gabriel Huen, manager of the Zanerobe shop, discussed the beauty behind the designs of each item and how each item is made with its own unique comfortability factor for anyone to wear.

“There’s always going to be that new school aspect that everyone is going to be into,” said Huen. “You got to think like Marc Jacobs, or any high end designer, to capture that look what everyone is seeing, but also be different from every designer as well.”

Huen was very passionate describing the differences between the shirts, pants, sweaters as well as how each of the materials accentuates various skin and body types.

“The older a brand gets, the more mature your designs get for everyone to set out there and see how people react to them,” said Huen.

Emily Jones, an employee at the Zanerobe shop, was ecstatic to welcome all customers and people who admired the artwork that was displayed all throughout the walls.

“Seeing different faces everyday to even familiar faces walk past these doors is amazing,” said Jones. “You get to see them looking at the clothing, products, and artwork all over the store. When they find what they’re looking for inside our store, brings me so much joy, me and my coworkers.”

Sara Sky, an employee at the Future pop-up shop, loves the experience she gets at work and thinks it’s very phenomenal.

“We get a lot of young skater kids coming here,” said Sky. “I mean who doesn’t like Future? It’s such a good set for all ages of both guys and girls to enjoy especially from their favorite rapper during our time. It’s sensational.”

Sky’s vibrant personality was very warm and welcoming for everyone who stepped inside the shop. Being able to captivate customers with a loud and bubbly personality can really take someone a long way.

The statement shops are only here for a short amount of time running through Sept. 6 to 25. Their opening days were a success that gathered love and support for the teams behind each line. These stores are open weekly from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
