At the end of this academic year, the Moorpark College Foundation will invite students on a 19-day vacation through Europe as a way to raise funds and celebrate graduation.
From May 27 through June 14, 2017, students have the opportunity to travel to nine countries throughout Europe, beginning in London. Chairman of the Moorpark College Foundation and organizer and travel agent for Dream Vacations, Dana Apple intends for this trip to be solely for students who will be graduating. However, it is open to any Moorpark students interested in exploring.
Apple encouragingly suggests students to invite their friends and be part of this opportunity, describing it as a memorable experience students will be able to look back on as the years go by.
“I think this trip would be a fantastic opportunity for any student. Not only to explore Europe and meet new people, but to visit and experience many things that are on most people’s bucket list,” said Apple. “This could possibly be the trip that many will regret missing once they have entered the workforce.”
Some of the major cities planned for visits on this trip include, London, Amsterdam, Berlin, Prague, Munich, Venice, Rome, Florence, and Paris.
Apple hopes to have a minimum of 30 students commit to attending the 19-day trip, requiring a $200 deposit at the time of applying to guarantee a spot on the trip. All final payments will be due 40 days before departure.
“Right now it’s only open to Moorpark College students,” said Apple. “I believe by December, if I don’t have all the seats booked, it will be open to the public.”
The trip itself will cost each attendee $2,798, covering a motor coach, all transportation, accommodations, meals, a professional trip manager, and local tour guides, with $200 of the proceeds from each student attending going to the Moorpark College Foundation. However, the round-trip flight to London itself will not be covered.
“The students would have to get to the start point on their own,” said Apple. “Or if I get enough interest at the beginning, I will be able to do a contract air, which means everyone flies out at the same time.”
Apple believes this could be a major life experience for students, hoping they aren’t so discouraged by the cost that they don’t consider the benefits.
“If money is an issue, think about it this way–in ten years when you look back, you won’t remember what you spend, but what you will have is all the memories and friendships you made on this whirlwind adventure,” said Apple. “That alone is priceless.”
