The Moorpark College Music and Theater Arts departments will be joining forces on Dec. 8 to present “Improv at Club M.”
The comedic event, held in the Communications building room 129, will showcase music and improv performed by students in the Music and Theatre Arts departments
Michael Grimes, professor and specialist for television and radio production, is more than thrilled to be helping with the audio and sound of the show.
“It’s very exciting to be seeing the entire casts coming together and work,” says Grimes. “It’s also beneficial for the FTVM program students to know how to work the audio, lights and sounds when it comes to production for the setting like this.”
John Loprieno, Theatre Arts department director and director for “The Improv at Club M,” expresses the unique environment an audience member is taken into when experiencing the improvisation event.
“If it is going to be your first time in a TV studio, it mashes together a night club scene inside the studio that’ll definitely make you feel like you’re part of a real TV experience,” says Loprieno.
According to Loprieno, the theme of each fall semester’s “Club M” is derived from not only the holiday season, but whatever Theatre Arts’ fall production was. In this case, it was “Night of the Living Dead,” a play focused around the idea of a zombie apocalypse.
“We usually take whatever the fall show was and we blend it into the Christmas theme,” said Loprieno. “So, since we did ‘Night of the Living Dead,’ we’re going to do something with Christmas zombies.”
“The Improv at Club M” will be held in the Communications building room 129 on Dec. 8 at 7:30 p.m. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit the Moorpark College website.
“It’s a way to kick back before finals weeks and to just have a fun night out,” said Loprieno. “So just show up, have a good time and laugh with everyone around you.”
