An event that all writers should take note of will take place at 208 EATM – part of the teaching zoo – on Friday April 21, 2017, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The cost is $60 for general admission; $30 for students and college-affiliated staff. College ID is required with free parking on Lot M.
“Unlike most writers’ festivals that are aimed towards either elder and/or more established writers, this one at Moorpark College is intended to help the newer, upcoming writers,” said Sandra Hunter, founder of the Moorpark Writers Festival.
An inspiring day of fiction and poetry workshops at Moorpark College will be led by nationally-renowned writers and teachers. This is a chance for new writers who are interested in generating new work, development, and editing. There will be an open mic for participants to perform their work at the end of the day,
Hunter wants to have a festival that encourages younger and less fortunate writers to keep writing.
This event is co-sponsored by Poets & Writers through grants it has received from The James Irvine Foundation and the Hearst Foundations.
