Diversity on campus will be at an all-time high this Tuesday as presentations, performances, delicacies and more take over Moorpark College on April 10.

The 28th annual Multicultural Day intends to exemplify its main theme throughout the event, entitled “Deliberative Dialogues on Diversity.” The exhibition of the topic will encompass many different types of culture, including lectures, presentations; such as Intersectional Feminism as a Lens for Understanding Diversity, Being Black in America: Finding Truth and Power, The Beauty of Islam and SafeZone Training for Students.

“We can’t take the students on a field trip to the world, so we bring the world to Moorpark College,” said Ranford Hopkins, retired Chairman of the Multicultural Day Committee.

In addition to lectures from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. performances such as Irish Dancers from O’Connor, Masanga Marimba, Bollywood Dance and Island Rhythms will be entertaining students from start to end of the event. The campus-wide occasion will even kick off with a performance by a Scottish bagpiper in the opening ceremony along the Quad from 9:40 a.m. to 10:10 a.m.

Although classified as an alternative day of teaching, some classes may still be in session due to specific requirements, so check with your professor before skipping class.
