Students looking for guidance on the UC application process should attend the UC application workshop on Oct. 24 from 2-3pm, in LMC Room 121, to learn step by step how the application is to be done.
With the UC application deadline being Nov. 30, students should begin preparing their applications and starting to submit them soon. The Moorpark College Transfer Center is putting on a workshop that will take students through the application, and teach them how to properly fill it out. The workshop will provide guidance along with answering questions that students may have along the way.
Career Transfer Center Coordinator, Judi Gould said the workshop will answer any questions students have, and will make the application process easier.
“The workshop will be held in a computer lab so students will be able to do the application during the workshop,” said Gould.
The workshop will also briefly go over the essay requirements for UC applicants, but for those looking for more information, transfer essay workshops are offered at Moorpark College. One will be held Oct. 24 from 5 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Shanie Bregman, 19, undecided major, considers that the workshop will provide helpful information for those in need.
“I honestly am not good with that kind of stuff so the help would really help me out, because it is not easy for everyone,” said Bregman.
For students that are not able to attend the workshop and have questions about the application, Gould encourages them to stop into the Transfer Center Mon-Thurs. during their application drop in hours of 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. The drop in hours are not only for UC applicants. CSU questions will also be answered during these hours. The Transfer Center is not the only place where students can go for help, any counselor can assist on the application said Gould.
Cassidy Abbitt, 19, psychology major, sees the workshop as a great way of making sure students fill it out correctly and have the appropriate guidance to do so.
“You know exactly what the UCs are looking for in an application then, and Moorpark is helping students go through the process,” said Abbitt.
Bonnie Cahn, 27, child development major, sees any type of workshop as a great resource of information.
“It lets me know what kind of programs a school offers and what they have on campus for my majors, and also what to do financially,” said Cahn
Students are being asked to make reservations to the workshop, which can be done by calling 805-378-1536 or stopping by the Transfer Center.
Students that are interested in attending these and other workshop being offered by Moorpark College’s Transfer Center can find the schedule on Moorpark’s website or using the link http://www.moorparkcollege.edu/services_for_students/transfer_center/application_workshops.shtml.
