During this election many Americans are putting their hopes for change in Barack Obama. Now, a new hope for change has appeared along side John McCain, and her name is Sarah Palin. Many will argue that it is not Palin we need as vice president.
They say she is inexperienced, unethical, and ignorant. They are wrong. Some seem to forget that running a country is not done solely by one person. It is much like the average American home which is kept up by more than one person.
Americans are spending too much time looking for Palin’s flaws instead of recognizing her accomplishments. Her achievements outweigh her faults. When Palin’s daughter became pregnant, many tried to say this is proof of her principles at home.
You cannot call her a hypocrite for denouncing abortion or sex before marriage just because her daughter went against that. Can people really be that ignorant as to think you can have complete control over everything that occurs in your life? You can lay down your laws, your rules, your morals but children may not always follow them.
Palin’s religious beliefs and household life are not what should be judged. People should be judging the experiences she’s had in government. When Palin became mayor of Wassilla, Alaska, following the past Mayor John Stein, whom had a salary of 68,000, she cut her salary down to $64,200.
She lowered property taxes from $2 million to $1.2 million and eliminated personal property taxes and business inventory taxes. She went door to door with her family by her side during campaigns and spoke face to face with members in her community. She went against others in power because she listened to the local community and worked for their needs.
Palin is not running for president, she is running for Vice President. It is a chance for her to give to this country what she has given to her state; a listening ear, winners fight, and a mother’s touch.
