Moorpark College students could improve their campus experience by getting involved in student groups.Moorpark College is a somewhat legendarily limbo of social interaction.
The issues with Moorpark College’s student involvement are not entirely the fault of the student population. Several factors make getting involved on campus difficult.
Moorpark College is a commuter school. A lack of on-campus or close-to-campus housing makes impromptu events nearly impossible. The typical Moorpark College student shows up, goes to class, and leaves without incident.
Additionally, the Moorpark College campus does not have the central hub of social activity that some others have. Without the cafeteria, the Campus Center lacks the enticement of a hot meal to draw students together. Spaces that students tend to gather can bustle with life, but there is little sense of community or kinship between these students.
Despite the issues that make getting involved at Moorpark College difficult, it could be possible. Moorpark College may never be the thriving incubator of social life that some other colleges are, but we can try. Students at Moorpark College are frequently given opportunities to get involved on campus, and the only way to improve student life is to seize them.
One of the easiest ways for students to get involved in the campus culture of Moorpark College is to join clubs. From biology to board games, a myriad of interests are reflected, and students who feel that their interests are not being represented can form their own clubs.
The problem with Moorpark College’s student life is easily solved, and frankly, it comes down to an attitude adjustment on the part of the students. Despite the issues with the campus itself, the cultural climate of Moorpark College could be greatly improved if the students make an effort to change it.
