Lady Raiders defeat Mission Eagles; Break tie for second place in WSC

The Lady Raiders defeated the Mission Eagles 3-1 Friday night breaking the tie for second place in the WSC North.

The Ladies now sit at 3-1 second to only Santa Barbara College who remain 4-0.

The Ladies won in four hard sets to get their tie-breaking win going 25-18, 23-25, 25-19, 25-22.

Second-year outside hitter Mariana Kedzia had a monster game leading the defense with 21 digs while still powering through the Mission Defense with 16 kills.

“Winning is always a great feeling,” said Kedzia. “It might not have been our best playing but we pushed through to get the win.”

Mighty Olivia Hoelker also added great numbers on both sides, adding 17 kills to lead the offense as well as 7 digs on defense.

“We worked really well as a team and stayed very positive,” Hoelker said.

The Lady Raiders are now in a great spot to move into the first place slot. Aside from Santa Barbara, they are currently the only team with a winning record at 3-1.The team will be praying for a Santa Barbara loss before they get another shot at the team on Nov. 5 at home.

“It’s a great feeling,” Kedzia added. “because making it to the very top is right within our grasp.”
