The Men’s Moorpark basketball team celebrated their victory on Feb. 4 on the road against Pierce College. The final score showed the Raiders defeating Pierce 67-63.

The Raiders started the game off strong, but Pierce made an 18-5 run to close the gap. Pierce’s comeback worked as they went into the second half up 37-33.

“We turned the ball over a lot,” said freshman Jeremiah Gray. “We started to get careless and took quick shots.”

As the Raiders entered the second half, they caught up on Pierce bringing the score to 59-59 with three minutes and 40 seconds left on the clock.

“We lost focus,” said head coach Gerred Link. “We have proven that we can play with any team and we arrive but sometimes we forget that we have to earn it.”

Freshman Justin Eisen shoots a three pointer and two free throws allowing the Raiders pull ahead 64-61.

Larry Bush, a freshman, made a basket to help seal the game.

The Raiders advance 4-4 in WSC play. Their next game will be Feb. 7 against Santa Barbara City College at 3 p.m.
