Moorpark’s convincing 10-2 win, at Allan Hancock College Tuesday afternoon in the regular baseball season finale, greatly improved its chances of postseason play. The Raiders ended the season, 20-16, overall, and 11-13, in the WSC, Northern Division.
Freshman starter, Chase Fredrick, pitched seven strong shutout innings for the win.
Dalton Duarte’s three-run homer, keyed a five-run first inning, and got the Raiders off to a flying start. Duarte added a double, scored two runs, and had four RBIs. Single runs in the third, fourth, and fifth innings, built a daunting, 8-0 lead for the visitors.
Jack Mulville went, 3 for 5, scored a run, hit two doubles, and had two RBIs. Terrell Tate went 2 for 4, scored two runs, and had an RBI sacrifice fly. Riley Conlan went 2 for 6, with a double, a run, and an RBI.
Head coach, Mario Porto, said that 20 wins overall was the threshold number for playoff consideration, but that the final decision would be made by the WSC selection committee at their April 27 meeting.
