Today students were treated to Transfer Day where they received feedback and guidance from universities’ representatives from around the state.

Brandon Cobb, computer science major and astrophysics minor, spoke to representatives from four universities before he found out CSUN was the best fit for him.

“I did learn that [CSUN has] a minor in astrophysics, so I didn’t know until today that that’s where I’m going to go,” said Cobb.

This year’s Transfer Day was Counselor Donald Munshower’s first year coordinating the event. With the help of his staff, 60 representatives from different universities arrived at Moorpark College to give advice to students.

“I’m hoping that students will talk to some of the reps, not know anything about the university, and leave knowing something about that university,” said Munshower.

CSUN Nazarian Business School Representative Anne Ward said, that she had talked with many student about majors, especially business and what requirements they need.

Munshower said he had asked the universities to also donate some of their school merchandise, so students, who left their 900 number, could have a chance to win prizes from a raffle.

New this year was the presence of Student Services, who provided students with ways to take advantage of college resources.

“To be a successful student you also need to know about the resources on campus to help you become successful,” said Munshower.

Munshower said that he will also be planning on increasing Student Services presence for next year’s Transfer Day.

Munshower is waiting to hear feedback from the representatives for next year’s Transfer Day. In the mean time, he is looking for a way to accommodate more representatives.
