This Saturday, Moorpark College looks to get their first win this season and to end the losing streak when taking on its rival, Ventura College, at home in their conference opener.

Head Coach Mike Stuart did not use the bye week like most people would think. He used it, instead, to rest his injured players.

“We just have a mediocre week in practice,” said Stuart. “We also want to focus on getting the redshirt players some practice time, since they don’t get any during a regular week.”

Stuart also said that he cannot use film of Ventura since they do not have many returners from last season. They also have a varying offense.

Because of the significance of the game, Raider fans will be able to participate in contests and potentially win prizes.

Athletic Director Howard Davis is excited for the extra events that will be going on at the game this weekend.

“The faculty athletic club booster club will host a halftime event,” said Davis. “One of those events will be a field goal contest.”

The football game will be played this Saturday at home at 6 p.m. The game is free for all students who show their Moorpark College school ID and $5 for those who do not have one.
