Moorpark College Symphony Orchestra along with the Choral Music Program put on a sold out “Choral Fantasy” show Friday Oct. 29 in the Performing Arts Center.
Through the teamwork of the Moorpark symphony and choir, the talented students participating in these programs where able to come together and perform for a full house of students, faculty and Moorpark community members.
The program consisted of Edvard Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A minor and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1 in C major both performed by the orchestra.
The choir joined the performance for Beethoven’s “Choral Fantasy” and the “Hallelujah Chorus” from the Christ on the Mount of Olives.
Professor James J. Song, Music Department chair at Moorpark College, guided and conducted the Symphony Orchestra in both pieces while Professor Brandon Elliot, the Choral Music Program director, provided conducting for the Choral Music Program portion of the program.
Brandon Lawrence, 18, music major, said he enjoyed the dynamic between the choir and the orchestra.
“My favorite part of the concert was the hallelujah,” said Lawrence. “The choir really opened up and it blended so well with the orchestra, it was amazing.”
The program also featured faculty artist Mona Decesare in the orchestra as well as featuring student artist Rosie Klaus in the chorus.
Don’t miss out on the next Music Program production, “Holiday Lights @ MC” that occurs on Dec. 5 at 7:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center. Advance purchased is recommended through the PAC website:
