The art program is holding their semi-annual ceramics and art sale this Dec. just in time to buy unique inexpensive gifts for the holidays while supporting Moorpark students.
This event will feature only student work and will include paintings, drawings and prints in addition to the ceramics pieces, according to the art program. While most of the proceeds from this sale go back to the artists, it is also an opportunity to learn a deeper lesson for students in the course.
“They [the students] learn how to price their own work and let go,” said Gerry Zucca, ceramics professor for Moorpark College. “It’s also good for other students that aren’t in the course because they get inspired to make their own work as well.”
All the pottery that’s being sold is microwavable, oven and dishwasher safe. It’s good to check in throughout that day because once a piece is sold, something will take its place so the floor is constantly changing said Zucca.
Skilled students from the ceramics class are just as excited for people from the school and community to come in and see what Moorpark does.
“Usually you would dread selling your pieces, but it’s just nice to put your work out there, put yourself out there and have people actually buy your items.” said Faith Stone, 20-year-old anthropology major.
The art work will be sold just in time for holidays on Dec. 2 and 3 at the Applied Arts building in room 124 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
