The annual Condoms and Kisses awareness event is being held inside the south entrance to Fountain Hall today, where colorful red and pink bags of condoms, health information and a cute couple of Hershey’s Kisses are being given out for free to students passing by.
Allison Barton, health educator at the Student Health Center is readily and enthusiastically drawing students in to the desk to give out ample amounts of the cute and educational baggies as well as to promote the importance of their safe-sex contents, along with offering information and pamphlets on several of the diseases and issues this event seeks to prevent.
“Some people are kinda embarrassed, but most aren’t,” said Barton after handing away another decorated bag to a passing student.
Held in conjunction with Valentines Day, the event is aimed mainly at young men between the ages of 18 and 25 and has been positioned in a prime spot where both Barton and Student Health Center staff believe they’ll be able to get the most traffic from their target group of elusive young men, with the little kisses added in to sweeten the pot.
If you miss this special event and would still consent to a little extra protection and some advice, you can stop by the Student Health Center in the Administration Building where bags of free condoms are always available, as well as free STI testing, treatment and more.
