After two losses on the road, the Lady Raiders returned home and found themselves on the winning side of things once again as they beat LA Valley College 5-1 on March 1.
With this bounce back win they continue their impressive season as they hold the top spot in the conference with a 9-3 record.
The Lady Raiders came out strong as they jumped onto a 4-0 lead at the bottom of the third inning. LA Valley scored once in the fifth inning, but the Lady Raiders answered back with another run and went on to win the game with a final score of 5-1.
Head Coach Dave Fox was pleased by the effort his team put into the game to get back into the win column. He referred to this victory against LA Valley as a quality win.
“We had two losses in a row, but we got off of that since we are back on the winning side,” said Fox. “We owned this game from start to finish.”
The Lady Raiders are aware that they are not the same team as they were at the start of the season as each and every day they see growth and improvement within their team.
“We played this team in the beginning of the season and we barely won by one,” said shortstop Jazmin Macias. “So now it’s like we are improving every day.”
Maintaining a lead is crucial when it comes to winning games and according to third basemen Julianne Rodriguez this team knows what they have to do to stay up and not led a lead slip away.
“You can’t get down even if you’re ahead by ten,” said Rodriguez. “You can’t mess around and don’t let people get in your head.”
The Lady Raiders play their next game at home on March 10 as they are set to face Santa Barbara City College.
