Through sweat and motivation, Moorpark College students and faculty revealed what they are really made of at this year’s Raider Pentathlon and Expo.

Five events were held Wednesday in the quad which included: battle jacks, barrier rabbits, medicine ball sit-ups, tire flips and vipr joust. Prizes for the top three winners in the men’s, women’s and faculty’s division were distributed.

Clare Haworth, a student, attended and enjoyed the pentathlon with her friends.

“I see the pentathlon as a challenge for each person as an individual to see their body limits,” said Haworth. “It’s not exactly a competition between classmates cause I’ve mostly just been here with my friends so I think it’s to just know your own limits and your own strength.”

Leslie Woessner, a participant, completed the battle jack challenge.

“I just did the battle jack, you take two ropes that look light, but are heavy and you have to hit them at the top and you have to hit yourself on the hips,” said Woessner. “The point is to get as many reps as you possibly can.”

Another competitive event that the men, women and faculty division can compete in is the Raider Challenge that will be held in the fall.
