Moorpark College prepares to host a boot camp that will provide applied training for promising entrepreneurs.
This project-based course is free and will run for six consecutive Wednesday evenings from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on June 29 to August 3 and will be held in the Academic Center room 203.
While the boot camp is open to students and community members with an interest in entrepreneurship, it is limited to 30 participants.
Topics to be discussed will include who the entrepreneur is, how entrepreneurs capture opportunity and how entrepreneurs build wealth.
Coleman Foundation Chair in Entrepreneurial Studies at California State University Fresno Dr. Timothy M. Stearns wrote the course curriculum and will head up the Entrepreneur Boot Camp.
“I’m pleased to be partnering with Moorpark College to bring the Entrepreneur Boot Camp to Moorpark,” said Dr. Stearns. “Entrepreneurs are vital to economic growth and quality of life in all communities.”
Julius Sokenu, dean of student learning, math and physical sciences, says the workshop supports the economic development as well as provides a chance for students to get exposed to the entrepreneurial world.
“This is a unique opportunity for our college students and local small businesses to dialogue and share insight on what it means to be an entrepreneur,” said Sokenu. “We know that small businesses are the economic engine of our county.”
