With Halloween on Monday, Moorpark College students begin their weekend early with everything from attending various parties, for those looking to close out October with a bang, to trick-or-treating, for those who are still a kid at heart.

According to a Student Voice Twitter poll, 51 percent of respondents aren’t doing anything this Halloween, 21 percent are partying, 21 percent are going trick-or-treating and seven percent are attending a haunted house or theme park.

Tony Hoyle, 22, undecided major, is one of the many visitors attending a frightening attraction this Halloween.

“My plans for halloween as of right now is to try and get a group together to go to Knott’s Scary Farm or Universal,” said Hoyle. “A friend of mine is going to be Harley Quinn and I’m going to be the joker as unoriginal as that is.”

Instead of being a villain like Hoyle, Allen Zimmerman, 21, studio arts major, is taking a more heroic approach for his Halloween costume.

“For Halloween, I’m going to be dressed up as Spiderman,” said Zimmerman. “I’ll be at school all day and then there is a party that my friend is throwing that I’ll be going to.”

Just like Zimmerman, Lacey Hunter, 21, Game Design major, will also be attending a party this Halloween, except it will be in her own backyard.

“For Halloween, I’ll probably throw a Halloween party at my house,” said Hunter. “I haven’t decided, but I might be a ghost for Halloween and I’ll create that costume by using a lot of makeup.”

Partying seems to be the thing to do for Halloween this year with Alya Mezzi, 18, Communications major, also expecting to have fun on a horror-filled night.

“For Halloween I might just hang out with my friends and have a little party,” said Mezzi. “I’ll probably be a witch for Halloween because I love dressing up as a witch.”

Partying seems to be the preferred activity for Halloween this year with William Schaffer, 22, Theater Arts major, also expecting to have fun on a horror-filled night.

“For Halloween, I’m going to party hard like I always do for Halloween,” said Schaffer. “I’m going to be Tony Perkis from Heavy Weights or maybe a stripper.”

Have a safe and fun Halloween, Raiders!
