Veterans celebrated the Marine Corps 242nd birthday in the Veterans Resource Center.

The Veterans Resource Center is a place on campus that helps veterans with tutoring, personal problems and serves as a hangout. Six-year Air Force veteran Armen Mansouri gave advice to the veterans of Moorpark College.

“Stay in school and get your degree,” said Mansouri. “Once you do that your whole life will become easier and there is nothing you can’t accomplish.”

Mansouri is President of Warrior Pointe, which is a non profit organization where he helps Veterans with their lives after the military. Warrior Pointe is a similar program to that at the Veterans Resource Center, but helps veterans nationwide.

“Warrior Pointe meets once a month and we go out to have fun together,” said Mansouri. “It’s a time for veterans to relax.”

Moorpark College’s Veterans Week celebration is dedicated to helping and bringing awareness to veterans and their unique issues. Veteran Jasmine O’Campo is grateful for Veterans Week and the Resource Center.

“It is really nice to be appreciated,” said O’Campo. “I’m definitely thankful for the Veterans resource center.”

Veterans from all parts of the military are helped achieve their goals. It has helped many of veterans including O’Campo with her school work and enjoying her life.

“The veterans center is a great place to come to for tutoring and helping me figure out all my benefits,” said O’Campo. “It’s also a nice place to hangout with other veterans and make new friends.”
