Cal State Apply workshops are going on now, here to help students and answer any uncertainties about the process.

Workshops are held every Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. and Wednesday from 4:15 to 5 p.m. in either Fountain Hall or the first floor of the library. Students are advised to check with the Career Transfer Center the day of to confirm location. They will be going on now until the end of November and anyone planning on transferring is advised to attend.

Students are taught how to sign up for Cal State Apply and how to properly list their personal information. They also go over how to fill out a transcript and where to access them from within the student portal.

One of the instructors, who preferred to be only attributed by her first name, Courtney, stressed the importance.

“Every student is different,” said Courtney. “It is important to know what you, specifically, need to do.”

The workshop is available to all students at no cost and people are welcome to attend every week, just like Criminal Justice student, Jacob Rodriguez.

“I wanted to make sure everything is fine before submitting,” said Rodriguez. “Getting my transcript filled out correctly was my first concern.”

Since the application deadlines aren’t for another month, students are encouraged to come before they fill up as the deadline approaches. Students are required to RSVP at the Career Transfer Center at least an hour before attending. They operate under a first come, first serve basis.

Moorpark Counseling staff member, Alex Gonzalez, exclaims how imperative timeliness is.

“Just be proactive!” said Gonzalez. “Look at your colleges early on so you know what they are looking for and come seek counseling early on as well, to make sure everything is perfect on the student end.”

Cal State applications are due no later than Nov. 30, 2018, for fall transfer of the upcoming year. The Career Transfer Center offers many online resources and a list of future events can be found on their website.
