A group of 10-12 teenagers, ages 13-16, assaulted two Rancho Simi Valley Parks and Recreation employees Thursday night, Feb. 18, at Berylwood Park.

The altercation occurred at about 7:45 p.m. when the two employees arrived at the park to provide routine services to the facility. When the teenagers were asked to step aside so that they were not blocking the facility’s entrance, a conflict ensued that resulted in the assault of the employees, according to a statement from the Simi Valley Police Department.

“The suspects subsequently fled the area in an unknown direction,” stated the Simi Valley Police Department. “One of the suspects was described as a Hispanic male juvenile, approximately 15 years of age, wearing a hooded sweatshirt. There were no further description or information of the other suspects.”

Travis Lamm, the son of one of the victims, described the injuries inflicted on his 70-year-old father and his father’s co-worker in a Facebook post, alongside a video of the assault. The video shows the teenagers shoving the employees to the ground and repeatedly kicking and stomping on them.

“My dad is a bit shaken up but his co-worker is still in ICU with a brain bleed, cracked head and eye and broken ribs,” said Lamm in the Facebook post. “As a life long skater, and having worked in the skateboarding business for most of my career, this is one of the most pathetic things I’ve ever seen.”

None of the suspects have been identified as of Feb. 20, confirmed Sergeant Keith Eisenhour of the Simi Valley Police Department.

“As of today, I don’t have any updates on the case,” said Sergeant Eisenhour. “I know that it’s an active investigation being looked at by our detective unit.”

The Simi Valley Police Department is asking anyone with information regarding the incident or the identity of the suspects to contact them at (805) 583-6950.
