At the beginning of the spring semester, Moorpark College disclosed that courses would be held remotely for a limited amount of time due to the recent surge in COVID-19 cases stemming from the highly contagious Omicron variant.
On Thursday night Moorpark College President Julius Sokenu provided an update on the future of in-person learning on campus and how the school will handle safety measurements moving forward.
“We want to let you know that we will reinstate in-person instruction on February 14th,” announced Sokenu. “The health and safety of students are of the highest importance, so we will notify you immediately if there is a change to this date.”
When classes do resume in-person on Feb. 14 the campus will require students to be fully vaccinated or have an approved exemption in order to attend on-site courses. Furthermore, students and faculty will be required to wear masks and undergo daily screenings.
“To be cleared to come on campus next week, people who have an approved exemption are required to get two tests this week,” stated Sokenu. “The tests can be taken on consecutive days but not the same day.”
Instructions on how to register for on-campus testing can be found here.
For those who choose to go to an off-campus testing site, visiting the Ventura County Recovers website will provide information on state testing locations in the county. It is important to note that students must show that the test is PCR and includes all other necessary information.
